Harvesting and Food Preservation
Students will now have the opportunity to harvest from their gardens. They will learn the
importance of timing and proper handling during harvest.
There will be an opportunity for an introduction to methods of food preservation like
drying, canning, and pickling.
The lesson will include hands-on activities where students participate in food
preservation techniques as well as cooking and eating the harvested foods together as a
community.

Objective
Students learn to effectively harvest crops and understand the value of food
preservation.
